COLLEGEVILLE PA – January is five months away, but for organizers of the annual Martin Luther King Day of Service in the Perkiomen Valley School District, it’s not too early to begin planning for next year’s edition of their event. The day will be observed Jan. 16, 2017, nationwide.
- This event has been added to The Schwenksville Post calendar.
Involving community residents, area businesses, and local organizations has made the day a success during the past four years. The district hopes to again encourage them and the public to begin thinking about how the schools’ students and staff members can make a difference by, as King put it, “doing for others.”
To that end, district School and Community Engagement Manager Jessica Lester recently published a video to YouTube illustrating how the district volunteer effort has had a local impact on earlier King service days, and asks for suggestions on what else it might try.
