TRAPPE PA – The annual candlelight tour of the Historical Society of Trappe, Collegeville, and the Perkiomen Valley returns Dec. 4 (2016; Sunday) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to the Henry Muhlenberg House, 201 W. Main St., to launch the community’s holiday season. Parking for the event is available across the street at St. Luke’s Church.
- This event has been added to The Schwenksville Post calendar.
The society’s self-guided tour depicts how Christmas was celebrated during the 18th Century by the Muhlenberg family. Walking a candle-lit path leading to house allows guests to step back in history and envision the challenges of the Revolutionary War era. Guides will stand by to answer questions on how the family lived. Visitors can listen to holiday music, as well as an old German reading of “The Night Before Christmas.”
Tours begin at the visitors’ center, where light refreshments will be served in festive surroundings. Its gift shop will feature a display of holiday gifts available for purchase.
Donations of $4 per adult are suggested; children are free when attending with their parents. For more information, call 610-489-7560.
