PENNSBURG PA – David S. Kennedy, a 48-year-old pediatrician who lives in Pennsburg and practices as a physician at Personal Care Pediatrics, 925 Main St., was arrested Monday (Nov. 28, 2016) by Upper Perkiomen police and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau “for possessing sexual explicit images of children and related charges,” county District Attorney Kevin R. Steele announced.
In a Wednesday (Nov. 30) press release, Steele reported a nurse practitioner at Personal Care Pediatrics had notified county detectives she found sexually explicit images of children on a cell phone belonging to the medical practice.
A joint investigation by the bureau and police revealed the nurse practitioner had been given a new iPhone by the office to handle its after-hours phone calls during the Thanksgiving holiday. While using the phone, she discovered sexually graphic photos of children and other sexual images. The investigation revealed the images belonged to Kennedy.
Kennedy was arrested Nov. 28 (Monday) and charged with five counts of sexual abuse of children and criminal use of a communications facility. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Justice Francis J. Lawrence Jr., who set bail at $250,000. Kennedy failed to make bail and was remanded to the county correctional facility in Eagleville.
A preliminary hearing for Kennedy is scheduled Dec. 21 (Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Justice Catherine M. Hummel Fried. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Sophia Polites.
This matter remains under investigation, according to Steele. Anyone with additional information is asked to call county detectives at 610-278-3368.
