PERKIOMEN PA – Lane restrictions due to construction are scheduled next week on Route 29, Route 73, Plank Road, and Meyers Road in Perkiomen and Skippack townships, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Thursday (April 20, 2017).
Weather permitting, the Monday through Friday (April 24-28) work schedule will:
- Reduce Route 29 to one lane between Miller Road and Harrison Road in Perkiomen Township, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., for utility relocation;
- Restrict Route 73 to one lane between Squirrel Hill Road and Perkiomen Creek Road in Skippack Township, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., for utility relocation;
- Restrict Plank Road to one lane between Route 29 and Route 73 in Perkiomen Township, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., for utility relocation; and
- Reduce Meyers Road to one lane between Seitz Road and Miller Road in Perkiomen Township, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., for excavation and curb installation.
During construction, all traffic will be controlled by flagging. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the construction areas. PennDOT warned slowdowns may occur.
Drivers also should be aware that Plank Road and Otts Road are scheduled to close beginning next month, the agency added.
The work is part of PennDOT’s project to improve travel and safety at the intersection of Route 29 at Plank and Otts roads; the intersection of Route 73 at Plank Road; and the Meyers, Seitz, and Township Line roads intersection in Skippack, Perkiomen and Limerick townships.
H & K Group Inc. of Skippack is the general contractor on the $11,292,416 project that is expected to be completed in Spring 2019.
