COLLEGEVILLE PA – Memorial Day parades, events, and observances are scheduled throughout the holiday weekend across western Montgomery County and elsewhere (in Collegeville, Lansdale, Royersford, and Pottstown; and in Boyertown) to pay honor and tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
Details for each are below.
The Collegeville-Trappe Memorial Day Parade
This year’s Collegeville and Trappe area parade will start Monday (May 29) at 10 a.m. from Augustus Lutheran Church, 717 W. Main St., Trappe, then proceeds down Main Street to Waterworks Park. The parade ends at the park at noon, with a remembrance observance. It will be followed by a community day featuring food, live music, and free entertainment and games for kids.
The mile-long parade includes new floats decorated by residents and groups, along with perennial favorites. It involves more than 50 groups representing veterans, military, non-profits, service clubs, Boy and Girl Scouts, marching bands, dancers, antique vehicles, and special brigades.
A number of armed forces groups will be represented, along with the Gold Star Mothers who have lost a son or daughter in the military, and Blue Star Mothers who have a son or daughter currently serving. Several motorcycle and other groups are expected to ride in tribute. Volunteers will distribute flags and programs to spectators along the route.
About 800 individuals are expected to take part, to be viewed by an anticipated crowd of 3,000. Those watching the parade should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for seating. At the end of the parade, viewers should fall in behind the EMS vehicle, and walk to Waterworks Park for the short remembrance ceremony conducted by pastors of area churches. It will feature buglers, a ceremonial flag-raising, the Pledge of Allegiance, and singing of “The Star Spangled Banner.”

LANSDALE PA – The Lansdale Memorial Day Parade will begin Saturday (May 27) at 9 a.m. from Cannon Avenue and follows to Memorial Park. A service in the park will begin at 10 a.m.
