BALLOON MADE EMERGENCY LANDING – State Route 29 in Green Lane PA had to be closed for a time Sunday (July 16, 2017) at around 8:30 p.m. as police, first responders, and PECO power crews worked to free a hot air balloon that made an emergency landing (above) in the middle of the road, the Green Lane Fire Company reported in a Facebook post. Officials say the balloon ran out of fuel, and its operator quickly looked for somewhere to safely land. The road was it, and the craft lowered to the ground (below). PECO workers helped deflate the balloon, which engulfed the highway, adjacent utility poles, and a nearby house. No injuries were reported. There was no indication if citations were issued by police.
