PENNSBURG PA – Yet another Montgomery County victim has been saved from an opioid overdose, thanks to local police department training and narcan, the drug responders can administer that counteracts opioid effects.
Upper Perkiomen Police Department Ofc. James McVeigh is being credited with saving the life Saturday morning (Oct. 21, 2017) on an unidentified borough resident who was found unconscious. Local paramedics had been dispatched, but McVeigh was “first to arrive on scene,” the department reported on its Facebook page.
The officer “quickly determined that the person was suffering from an opioid overdose,” it noted. After delivering a dose of narcan, “the patient started to recover. Upper Perk Ambulance arrived on scene and took over the care of the patient. The patient survived,” it added.
No other information on the incident, including its time and specific location, were provided.
