PVHS Grad Earns Chief Petty Officer Rank
COLLEGEVILLE MAN EARNS NEW NAVAL RANK – Former Collegeville resident and 2010 Perkiomen Valley High School graduate John Tiger (above at left), who now serves as a chief information systems technician in the U.S. Navy, was recently promoted to the rank of chief petty officer, according to the Navy’s Office of Community Outreach. It’s an accomplishment that only one in five eligible sailors achieve each year; only 8-1/2 percent of sailors currently serve at the chief petty officer rank, the office said. Tiger was subject to a rigorous job-based exam and a selection review board. Family members were on hand to witness his promotion, and participated in the ceremony by pinning two gold anchors on the newly appointed chief’s uniform.
