ZIEGLERVILLE PA – Unknown vandals used a vehicle to rip up the turf on athletic fields during overnight Thursday or early morning Friday (Nov. 10, 2017) hours at Perkiomen Valley Middle School West, 220 Big Rd., Lower Frederick police reported.
Police department investigating officer, Cpl. David J. Milligan, said school employees arrived Friday morning “to find their athletic fields had been turfed. Due to the extensive damage of the fields, there will be a substantial impact felt by the various sports programs” that use them, he wrote.
Several deep tire-track gouges and loops can be seen crossing a carefully white-lined field in a photo police supplied to The Post (at top). The value of the damage is estimated at about $5,000, according to Milligan’s report. It is unknown if events scheduled for the fields will be moved elsewhere, re-scheduled, or canceled.
Township Police Chief Paul Maxey said the department is “requesting assistance from the public with any possible leads or suspects.” Residents with any information about the incident are asked to call the department at 610-287-4434.
